Why We Started Elevon Studios – A Dream That Wouldn’t Die

Opening – The Earliest Spark
My journey into gaming started with my older brother. He is nine years older, and thanks to him, I got to experience video games long before most kids my age.
Some of my earliest memories are foggy flashes of Mario on the NES, staring up at the TV as I clutched a controller, barely understanding what I was doing—but loving every second of it.
The Hardest Years – And the Game That Changed Everything
Fast forward a few years. Around the time I was 10 or 11, my mom became sick. I still remember the beeping of her oxygen machine, the quiet hum of it filling our house.
She was fading, and though I didn’t fully understand what was happening at the time, I felt it.
When she passed years later, I was angry. Confused. Lost. The world felt unfair. And in the middle of all that pain, I found a used copy of Final Fantasy IX for my PlayStation 1.
That game changed my life.
"Don’t let our memory become a burden. You must always be light-hearted and free."
— Morrison, Final Fantasy IX
That moment helped me process my grief in a way that nothing else could. It framed loss not as a weight, but as something I could carry with joy. Even today, I smile when I think about it.
The Dream That Wouldn’t Die
That’s when I truly realized the power of video games. They could be more than just entertainment. They could prime people to make good choices, to face the future with hope, to carry on even when life felt impossible.
That was the moment when the dream was born—to make games that mattered.
Losing My Way – And Finding It Again
But I didn’t chase that dream.
After high school, influential people in my life convinced me to take the “safe” path. I let doubt creep in. I had failed algebra in high school and struggled with math in college, and somewhere along the way, I made a dumb assumption:
"Making games means doing a lot of math. And I’m bad at math."
So I walked away from game development before I ever even tried.
Years passed. The dream never left. It was always there, lingering in the back of my mind, refusing to die.
Coding Isn’t Math – It’s a Language
That realization hit me when my dyslexic cousin completed a coding boot camp. If he could do it, why couldn’t I? That single thought pushed me into the world of coding, and before I knew it, I had built a career as a front-end engineer.
Standing at the Edge – And Jumping In
But even as I climbed the ranks, something felt off.
I had another realization: there is no real safety in a 9-to-5.
I had spent years chasing stability, but in doing so, I had sacrificed the one thing I truly wanted—to make games, to tell stories. I had let fear dictate my choices for far too long.
The Leap
So here I am. Years later. Finally ready to pursue my dream. Ready to lay it all on the line and see where it leads.
And I’ve never felt more alive.
This Is Just the Beginning
This is why Elevon Studios exists.
This is why we make games.
